BSD Users will be dedicated to all variations of BSD, but will primarily focus on FreeBSD. FreeBSD is the most popular of the BSD's in use today, and seems to be gaining in popularity from many of the Linux users as well. FreeBSD seems to be the free *NIX of choice as far as performance, stability, and reliability. It is this site's goal to help educate and inform those who are new to and curious about the power that BSD brings to the table. The many BSD variants include, but are not limited to: Greg Lehey has written an article titled: Explaining BSD. And, if you're already familiar with Linux, but a newcomer to BSD, Matthew Fuller has put together a great introduction for the Linux user who is considering switching to BSD... read his comparison regarding BSD vs. Linux.
It is also our intention to help promote the new BSD Certification that is currently under development. The BSD Certification Group is a non-profit organization devoted to creating and maintaining a certification standard with a focus towards system administration on BSD-based operating systems. Since the BSD Users site is still very new... it will be a gradual work-in-progress. In other words, changes and updates will be made when time permits.
